For those of you who aren’t familiar with this ‘Camp as Christmas’ film you are missing out! It is based on an autobiography of Joan Crawford’s adopted daughter Christina, and basically chronicles how difficult it was to live with the movie star. I have also read the book too and although the film took a few liberties it is pretty close.

This film came out in 1981 when I was 10 or 11 years old. The one thing that I have always loved about this film is the opening sequence of Ms. Crawford getting ready for a day at MGM studios. Joan was meticulous about her appearance and her surroundings. There wasn’t a thing out of place and the film leads us to believe that she went through a very specific beauty ritual every morning which involves a lot of scrubbing. This had a big influence on me at a tender age and I think it has contributed to my obsession with exfoliation and skincare.

Are there any films that have inspired your beauty regime?
